42 years later: Afghanistan started out as a proxy war against Russia too...
It means that America, Europe and NATO ended up getting bogged down in the Afghan quagmire for approximately 42 years. And that this terrible debacle originally started out as merely a proxy war against Russia.
Perhaps all this forlorn history could also mean that America, Europe and NATO's war in Ukraine started out as a proxy war against Russia -- and may also end up getting bogged down in the Ukraine quagmire for another 42 years.
Two recent 9-11 conferences have honored this tragic moment in American history and also exposed many of the blatant neo-con lies that even now are being constantly drilled into our heads. On September 8, 2026, the annual 9-11 Truth Film Festival returned to the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland, CA -- and a Turning the Tide conference in New York City was held on September 11 itself.
Both of these events focused on all the different ways that we've been lied to about what really happened on September 11, 2001 -- on George W. Bush's watch.
I myself can personally thank GWB for starting my own 26-year writing career. Why? Because he made me so angry when he stole the 2000 election that I became a writer purely out of resentment over his sleazy behavior. And my sweet little 1990 Toyota still sports its 26-year-old "Bush Knew" bumper sticker!
My very first thought when I saw the Twin Towers fall was, "What has Bush done now!" And I still strongly believe that George W. Bush should spend the rest of his lying, traitorous and worthless life in jail.
