 Cripto, Gold, Petro-Dollars & Yuan: "Some will rob you with a shotgun...."

     Butch Cassidy, Bonnie & Clyde, Pretty Boy Floyd, Jesse James, Patty Hearst.  Old-school bank robbers.  But nobody robs banks with guns any more.  If you wanna rob a bank these days, all you gotta do is get a job at the Federal Reserve or follow Justin Trudeau's lead and seize private citizens' bank accounts or manipulate Stable Coins and central bank digital currencies in your favor or hack money transfers to the Cayman Islands.....  

 

      Or you could just start a war.

      Or you could send inflation skyrocketing and steal everyone's money that way -- without even having to rob a bank! 

     There's just no drama involved in robbing banks these days.  Sigh.  It's all done on the down-low using computers and wire transfers and digital surveillance and biometrics and propaganda and offshore bank accounts.  Where's the fun in that.

     And at this point, you will probably expect me to say something wise and helpful about how to thwart all these modern bank robbers.  Sorry, guys.  I'm not an economist.  You could buy the dip in gold and hoard it until the price goes back up?  Then bury it in the back yard?  Sounds like a plan.

      Or we could start trading in cripto or yuan instead of dollars?  It's probably gonna come to that anyway at the rate that our current government is screwing up both its economic plans and its war plans.

       Or we could just get out the torches and pitchforks and demand that America eliminate the Federal Reserve and go back on the gold standard!  Or else discover oil in our backyards while we're burying our gold?

      "But what about the petro-dollar," you might ask.  "Isn't that a guarantee that the American dollar will stay strong no matter what idiots are running our country?"  Uh, no.  The petro-dollar, which has been ruling the world since 1973 because it controlled the flow of oil?  It's now toast.

      "But how can that happen?"  Because America signed a deal with various Middle East oil companies, er, countries that as long as oil is sold in petro-dollars, America would protect them.  Well.  That didn't happen.  Now Mohammad bin Salmon is totally pissed off and has started dealing in petro-yuans.  Geez Louise.  If that doesn't bury American currency under a massive pile of super-debt, then nothing will.

 

     Or, as the Chinese are fond of saying, "Money talks in the way that bombs cannot."  The evening news tells us all about the military wars in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin America -- yet never mentions the economic time-bombs that are landing on America every single day.  Every single day, a large number of us get blown up by these monetary missiles, bombs and drones.  

      Moral of this economic story?  Time to start riding bicycles everywhere and growing turnips in our back yards -- and to consider robbing banks?

PS:  My friend the gold expert sez that the price of gold has gone down because Iran is selling off all its gold to pay for missiles and such.  "So what's to keep America from selling off all its gold to buy weapons too and then really flooding the gold market?"  

      My friend just laughed.  "America has no gold left to steal.  We no longer own it.  The Federal Reserve does.  It's currently hidden down in an underground vault in New York City which is owned by the Fed -- safer than any Swiss bank, sure, but Americans don't own their gold any more."  

 

     Now the tables have turned.  Now the banks are robbing us!

PPS:  Clearly, cash is no longer king.  I was out in the middle of nowhere recently, got really sick and paid the town doctor in cash.  Now my medical insurance won't pay me back because I have no credit card record of the transaction.  Duh.

     Apparently www.TripMate.com performs its scam magic by having so much fine print in its contract that there is no way you can ever get reimbursed.  Their representative called me this morning and patiently explained why they can't even give me a $34 reimbursement for my doctor bill.  "It's in our rules," she said.  "You can't just pay cash for something."  Not any more, not even if you have a written receipt.  Not even if your flip-phone doesn't take Venmo!
