Souls of dead folks, dead souls: Are we collecting them?

     According to Wikipedia, "Dead Souls is a novel by Nikolai Gogol and is widely regarded as an exemplar of 19th-century Russian literature."  What's the plot?  Some dude named Pavel Ivanovich Chichikov travels around Russia, collecting the names of dead Russian serfs so that he can exploit them by claiming their names on the tax roles.  It's his favorite scam.

     Throughout the world today, our most powerful leaders' favorite scam also involves collecting the souls of dead folks -- men, women and children murdered and slaughtered by "war".  Do these dead souls fly up to Heaven?  Go off to Nirvana?  End up in Paradise?  Get reincarnated?  Cross the River Styx to go visit Hades?  Or just end up as rotting corpses -- whatever is left of them?  

      Or what if all these dead souls also merely exist in our world leaders' imaginary tax roles -- and were never real people at all?

 

      No matter what happens next to these Dead Souls, our most powerful leaders seem to be collecting them right and left -- by the millions.  Gross, gory and ghoulish.  But what is even far worse is that most average Americans are agreeing to go along with all this brutal carnage -- or even to cheer it on.  And are even willing to pay for it too.

     Which leads us to this question.  "Will the collectors and grim reapers of all these millions of souls of dead folks, otherwise known as our leaders -- are they going to end up in Hell?"  Or are they going to come back to haunt us like the hungry ghosts that they have become.
