Jesus was a pacifist and a peace activist. He still is. Merry Christmas.

The Jesus that I know and love is so filled with compassion that He makes special field trips to Hell, taking pitchers of ice water to those who ignore "Thou shalt not kill" signs to their own peril.

He also brings fruit baskets to the poor.

And He is dead set against corporate welfare too. It's that "eye of the needle" thing. If Jesus had staged His Second Coming last month, for instance, he would have been out protesting in Miami. And Bush, Halliburton, NAFTA and them would have had Him beaten, jailed and sent off to Guantanamo (Jesus was, after all, a Palestinian.)

So. In Christ's name, let's all have a Merry Christmas, bring our troops safely home from Iraq and send Bush, Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz, Cheney and them off to fight their own deceitful sleazy wars so that it will be them, not us, who end up in Hell.

In honor of the birthday of the Prince of Peace, may those of us who would be Christians make a solemn vow to do unto others as we would have others do unto us.

And let's also start to practice what we preach.

In the spirit of Christmas,

Our troops will get Christmas dinner Halliburton style -- rotting meat: The Pentagon reported finding "blood all over the floor," "dirty pans," "dirty grills," "dirty salad bars" and "rotting meats ... and vegetables" in four of the military messes [Halliburton] operates in Iraq, NBC said, citing Pentagon documents.

From me: Jesus would have loved the internet! Blogs by John the Baptist. St. Paul as Webmaster. The Devil sending us porno spam. And Judas and John Ashcroft gleefully hacking into www.jesus-for-peace.org!

Christmas reminds me of the famous Bethlehem/Los Angeles paradox: On the one hand, America's politicians spend 8.5 million dollars a day financing Israeli settlers' "right of return" to Palestine. On the other hand, American politicians spend 8.5 million dollars a day denying Mexicans their "right of return" to Texas and California. Go figure.

And what about me? My great grandmother was Cherokee. Will the Feds now spend 8.5 million dollars a day giving me back North Carolina? That would be nice.

Our media policies got their start in 1952: Our current media approach to news began in 1952 or thereabouts as the POWs began filtering back home from North Korea. The POWs talked of a new technique that the North Koreans had used which the POWs called "Brain Washing". The success of brain washing was attributed to saying the same thing over and over and over and over and over until the POWs finally accepted it as truth. The goal of the neo-cons is to brain wash America into giving up democracy. And they are succeeding too!

Since they are brain washing us by repeating over and over how wonderful the neo-cons are, it is our patriotic duty to repeat over and over again "Neo-cons lie, steal, cheat, kill and generally suck eggs". And also "Education is our top priority" and "It is time for the human race to evolve toward meaningful stuff for a change." and "Let's save the planet from President [sic] Strangelove!" And that old standby favorite of ABC-TV -- "Vote for Dennis Kucinich!"

A true disciple of Christ: A wonderful priest, Father William O'Donnell, died of a heart attack last week. He ALWAYS took Christ's teachings to heart. He did jail time to protest the notorious School of the Americas at Ft. Benning, GA -- where torturers are trained. I went to his wake at St. Joseph the Worker church on Saturday. He lay in a plain pine box with handles made of rope. An honor guard of farm workers stood to either side of it. If only Father Bill had been in the White House instead of the lowlife killers we have there now.
