What would it be like if MY hometown became another Gaza?

     Right now I'm sitting here in my pleasantly sunlit garden, eating a healthy breakfast and listening to the Electric Intifada describe the unimaginable horrors currently going on in the killing fields of Gaza City.  I'm comfortably sitting here watching videos of Zionist drones and quad-copters systematically massacre anything that moves -- unfeeling and inhuman machines that neither know nor care that they are slaughtering and butchering real human beings.

     I'm just sitting here munching on French toast, watching my roses bloom and quietly listening to more and more horror stories about how the children and grandmothers of Gaza City are futilely and desperately struggling to somehow scramble toward any kind of safety -- and then it hits me.  What would I myself do if I myself was living in Gaza City?  Where would I myself run and hide?  Where would I myself search for food?  Where would I myself possibly find shelter?

     And what if I was injured?  Where would I myself go to find medical care after my legs had been blown off by IDF tank shells and every single hospital in Gaza City has been bombed to bits by Zionists using blood-lust and spouting their phony victimhood claims as useless excuses for genocide -- and the rest of the world live-streams my anguish but does nothing to save me?

      Then I start to imagine what I would do if those same sorry blood-thirsty Zionists and American neo-cons who seized Palestine also decide that my city here in America is also located on far-too-valuable land to be occupied by just mere middle-class techies and shopkeepers?  What if Zionists and neo-cons decide to colonize and seize my hometown as well?  Where would I myself hide here too?  What would I myself eat?  How could I possibly survive here if my own hometown suddenly looked like Gaza City?

     First, bombers level my apartment complex.  Everything I can't carry on my back is suddenly gone.  I desperately jump into my car and start driving east.  An airstrike craters the road in front of me, sending shards of glass into my face and arms.

    I jump out of my vehicle and run to the nearest hospital.  "Help me pleease!"  But the very same hospital where I had formerly given birth to my children is now just a smoldering pile of ruins.  I wipe the blood from my eyes and move on, desperately hoping to loot a nearby Whole Foods for something edible with protein -- but the shelves there are already empty.

     I eat weeds and grass, look for water, find none and keep moving.  Darkness is about to fall.  I look up.  I see even more ghastly war planes.  The building next to me gets bombed.  The old man next to me is shot dead by a quad-copter.  I move on -- but to where?  The freeway underpass!

     I could hide in the underpass -- but for how long?  Already a hundred people have sought refuge there.  We huddle and pray.  No use.  A bomb closes off one side of our haven.  Sure I can hold out, but for how long?  It's perfectly clear that no cavalry is coming to save us.  The Zionists and neo-cons want us dead.

     These are my last thoughts as the hundred-ton freeway above me takes a direct hit and a huge chunk of it collapses on top of my left leg.  I pass out from the pain.  I finally wake up to darkness -- but nobody can reach me.  Nobody can even hear my cries.  I start to die slowly and painfully in my new makeshift grave.

      Is this nightmare what it's like to live in Gaza City these days?
