And the economic noose around our necks just keeps tightening...
All I do these days is worry about genocide and Endless War. Perhaps I should be worrying about the economy too.
I just got this e-mail from a friend wherein she described the dire situation that our local economies are in right now -- and what she said makes perfect sense. Americans just don't realize how the economic noose is constantly being tightened around our necks. But my friend does. Let us hope she is wrong. "Wanna make a guest appearance on my Web Log?" I asked her.
Here's what she wrote:
We’ve lost over 30 % of mom and pop stores. Biden
said he will have taken out another one-third of farmland out of production by the end of his term -- added to the one-third he already took out. That is two-thirds of all food production in the US, bread basket of the world.
Many businesses, tele-coms, etc., are laying off people -- in preparation for what? And now the big box stores where people like us can afford to buy food, even if not organic, are closing. And how many more small independents are going under?
In my home town, our city council forced our gas stations and local car-repair shops to close. Where will you get your gas and how long will the lines be?
Also, every time you buy via Amazon, every time you buy on line, please consider: Could you buy locally? Could you support the economy of your town? If they collapse our local economy, losing the taxes, etc. that keep our governments running, what next? It is becoming impossible not to know this -- and we are a part of it. Convenience vs. collapse? Is that really what this will be about?
What part are you playing in this shell game?
PS: Americans don't seem to be shocked or even bothered by the insane fascistic genocide now being perpetrated on Palestinians in Gaza -- so why should I expect Americans to even lift a finger to protect their own economy? "First they came for the Palestinians and I did nothing...."
